PRACTICAL NOTES

nx2android: Android setup

Set up nx2android on Windows, check Android GPU requirements, port your own Switch files, and verify APK plus game data against upstream reports.

Is nx2android the Android version of nxnative?

nx2android describes itself as an Android port of nxnative, maintained in a separate repository. At revision 421fe06, checked 29 October 2026, it runs a game’s own arm64 code with a host and translates Switch NVN graphics to Vulkan. The Apple project uses Metal and builds a Mac app or iPhone/iPad IPA. Choose the project for your target device; their packages, profiles and troubleshooting steps are not interchangeable.

Before downloading

The pinned install guide documents this player route:

  • A Windows PC, with about 30 GB free as an initial planning figure; a port can need about twice the game’s size. Large games can need more space.
  • An Android device with a GPU able to read BC-compressed textures: the project lists Adreno (Snapdragon) and Xclipse (Exynos 2200 and later). It excludes Mali and PowerVR in this documented route. These GPU families are a prerequisite, not a promise for every model or game.
  • Your own game files and prod.keys from your own Switch. Inputs are NSP or XCI, with the appropriate update/DLC. NSZ must first be decompressed to NSP. This guide supplies no games, keys or prebuilt game APKs.

The key file is used to read game content; it is not an nx2android activation purchase. An iOS signing certificate is not part of this Android route.

Windows to Android: installation checkpoints

  1. Open the project’s Releases and compare the release’s notes and supported games with the release check. Use the maintainer’s Windows bundle, not a repackaged download from a comment or advertisement. This site has not scanned or run the executable; an unsigned-app warning is not evidence that a file is safe.
  2. Extract the bundle to a short path and open its app only after your normal download checks. In Setup, review Download missing tools: the documented dependencies are the Android NDK, .NET SDK and platform-tools from Google/Microsoft. The source setup names NDK r27c, .NET SDK 10 and Python 3.11+, but the bundled player route does not require separately installing Python packages. Check the selected release before substituting tool versions.
  3. Set the path to your own prod.keys and run Save and check. Continue only when the setup checks pass. Do not upload that file when seeking help.
  4. In Port, select the one-game folder and confirm the detected title/version. Select Port and preserve the first error if it stops. The result includes an APK and a companion <Game>-data folder; producing just an APK does not establish a working installation.
  5. For the documented USB route, enable USB debugging on your device and authorize only your own trusted PC. Use Install on device or the install-after-port option so the tool places the companion data. Preserve the device-install log. Keep authorization limited to the computer you intend to use.
  6. Open the expected game, check the first scene, controls and saving separately. Record the actual checkpoint reached. Back up existing saves before replacing an earlier app; successful porting or installation does not prove a full playthrough.

Use the project’s current installation guide for manual APK/data placement; do not guess a destination from an iPhone guest’s Documents path. Version 421fe06 also changes handling of a data folder owned by another UID, so report the tool revision with data-access failures instead of repeatedly deleting game data.

What the compatibility reports establish

The author’s game-status page names a Lenovo Legion Y700 with Snapdragon 8 Elite / Adreno 830. For example, it reports Hades II update 1.0, while Unicorn Overlord update 1.05 is explicitly a boot report with saving and a full battle untested; Xenoblade Chronicles 3 update 2.2.0 is work in progress with missing effects/models. These are upstream author reports, not our measurements and not evidence for every Android phone.

Confirm the exact game/update against both the status page and your release’s port checks. A game listed in the Apple nxnative catalog does not automatically have a working Android profile. Our Apple compatibility index remains scoped to Mac, iPhone and iPad.

If porting or installation fails

Keep the bundle/repository revision, title ID, game/update version, PC environment, device/GPU, first failed stage and redacted red log lines. Use nx2android Issues for Android-specific failures; use seedds/nxnative only for a demonstrated upstream issue. Do not attach keys, game data, private device identifiers or signing credentials. Do not disable security software because a post calls a detection a false positive.

For Apple devices, return to nxnative iOS installation or Mac builds. For the project scope and Switch 2 question, read getting started.

Common questions

Can I install a nxnative IPA on Android?

No. Use the separate nx2android APK and companion data workflow; Apple builds do not establish Android compatibility.

Does every Snapdragon phone work?

No. Check the GPU capabilities, exact game/update and release-specific reports; the documented test device does not represent all phones.
